Everyone loves inspiring true animal stories.  And when the animal tales are brought to life on the big screen, we love them even more.  While they may leave us with a tearful eye or heavy heart, at the end of the day movies about pets help us all understand how pets teach us the meaning of loyalty and unconditional love.

 

AKITAEarlier this week, Richard Gere held a press conference to promote his latest movie, “Hachi: A Dog’s Story.”  The movie was inspired by Hachiko, a dog who never stopped waiting for his master even after the man’s death.

 

This Japanese story tells of how Hachiko would wait at Shibuya train station for his master and carried on doing so for ten years after the man had died.  While the story of Hachiko was told in a film in 1987, Gere’s movie takes the plot to a Rhode Island location, though Japanese Akita dogs are used.
