First, let me start by saying how ironic it is that I stumbled on the Snoring Dog Studios blog today.  The blog, which was featured on the WordPress landing page, was reporting findings from a recent public health report that claimed owners should not allow their pets to sleep in their beds.  And, while we are not advocates of the situation and are working to remind (a.k.a. “re-train”) Leo that his bed is on the floor, this report gave me a good kick in the butt today.  The main reason pets shouldn’t be allowed in the bed, according to the report, is not to help humans sleep better, but rather to prevent GERMS … it actually mentions that since 1974 multiple cases of the plague have been associated with people who let their cats sleep with them.  NOTE TO SELF: Work harder to retrain Leo, even if he is super clean and bathed often.

In other news, have you heard about Subaru’s Game Day Walk event? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!  Subaru, which aligns itself with charities and organizations that have meaningful value to its target consumers, is encouraging pet lovers across the country to pledge to walk their dog on February 6.  Forget sitting on the couch, indulging in an eight-hour Super Bowl television marathon with an occasional flip to Animal Planet to check out the “Puppy Bowl’s” water-bowl time lapse camera. (Although that does sound fun too!) Consider taking your four-legged friend to the local dog park or simply get a bit of exercise after being stuck indoors all winter.

The campaign’s website currently has more than 55,000 pledges and features a dog park locator to help make things easy.  My favorite part of the site is the “Dog Tested, Dog Approved” video.

Sign up today!  My fingers are crossed that we signed up in time to receive Subaru’s free doggie gift pack.  Stay tuned …
